This pilot project began with our Internship at the University of the Fraser Valley with Professor Cherie Enns as our faculty supervisor during the Winter 2021 semester. We connected with Professor Ravinder Kaur through the Punjab University to research child-friendly cities. We have contributed literature that can be used in the project, helped with surveys that will be distributed to schools in Chandigarh and built curriculum that can be used in Chandigarh and Abbotsford.
Our pilot project will begin with connecting two teachers from Abbotsford and two teachers from Chandigarh. In the future we may expand this to a greater populous, and maybe it will expand globally. Our goal is to help connect teachers from around the world to be able to share culture, community and connect. Even if you do not wish to connect with another teacher, our website is filled with multiple resources that you can use and pull from for your own lessons. We hope that what we have gathered and created here can take a life of its own and flourish.
We choose the name Youth as Urban Designers to encompass students input from engineering of buildings, park spaces, food resources, playgrounds, rural areas and much more.
If you use our modules and wish to share photos on social media use the hashtag #creatingyouthchangemakers so other teachers can see how you used or modified the curriculum.
